Alaska Sealife Center

Experience the miracles of the sea through interactive exhibits, and many other displays. Observe endangered stellar sea lions, harbor seals, and countless sea birds behaving much as they would in the wild. Located on the shores of Resurrection Bay in downtown Seward.

Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a 140-acre non-profit conservation, education, and recreation facility dedicated to the care of native Alaskan wildlife. Located at Mile 79, Seward Hwy., near Portage. AWCC is open everyday, year-round.

The Carl E. Wynn Nature Center in Homer overlooks Kachemak Bay, offering interpretive hikes daily from mid-June until Labor Day. A handicap accessible walkway leads to the visitor center and viewing platform. On Kachemak Bay across from Homer, the center’s field station is surrounded by old-growth forest and tide pools teeming with life.

Challenger Learning Center

Challenger Learning Center of Alaska, in the city of Kenai, uses simulated space missions and hands-on education to help students learn and develop an interest in math, science and technology. Corporate training and community programs, outreach and teacher training programs and summer day & residential camp programs are available.  

Cooper Landing Historical Society Museum

Cooper Landing's history is displayed in two historic buildings: Jack Lean's Cabin, built in the late 1920's, which was also the home of the Cooper Landing Post Office for almost 40 years and the School House built in 1955 and used until September 2001. Both buildings were moved to the museum site (owned by the Cooper Landing Community Club) on the south shore of the Kenai River.Open May 15th through September 15th Wednesday through Monday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or by appointment. The museum is manned by volunteers and funded through donations, sales in museum store, and garage sales.  

Hope & Sunrise Historical & Mining Museum

Relive the magic of the early Gold Rush years! Museum exhibits recall the Turnagain Arm Gold Rush of 1894-1899 and depict bustling Hope City and Sunrise City through vintage photographs. Original buildings on-site. Free admission. Open summers Friday, Saturday, and Monday from 12-4pm and Sundays from 12-2pm.

Learn more about our history, economy, and early native inhabitants at this quaint museum staffed and operated by real Alaskan pioneers. Located a short 1/2 mile down K-Beach Loop Road, Kasilof. Open daily 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

At K’beq (Footprints), Dena’ina Athabascans share their traditions and culture with visitors through interpretative walks featuring archaeological sites. Explore Dena’ina culture by learning about artifacts from the descendants of those who made them. Located at Mile 52.6 of the Sterling Highway, across from the Russian River Campground in Cooper Landing.

Kenai Landing, located at the mouth of the Kenai River on Cannery Road, is a 65 acre tidewater community of historic buildings and renovated cannery structures dating back to the early 20th century. Public beach access, museum, public launch ramp and docking facilities, custom fish processing and numerous retail services are available. Cannery tours available during season.

Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

Kenai National Wildlife Refuge covers almost two million acres, much of which is designated wilderness. Many areas, however, are accessible for a variety of outdoor activities. The Visitor Center, in Soldotna on Ski Hill Road, is open June - August. Weekday hours: 8am-5pm. Weekend hours: 9am-6pm. Off Season hours are Weekdays: 8am-4:30pm. Weekends: 10am-5pm.

Step through the doors of the Kenai Visitors & Cultural Center to discover what the city of Kenai is about, including the history of the Native Alaskan culture, the Russian era and the oil industry. This world-class facility is at 11471 Kenai Spur Hwy, Kenai.

Pratt Museum

At the Pratt Museum in Homer, you can view the birds on Gull Island and the brown bears at McNeil River - LIVE via webcams! Exhibits focus on art, history, culture, fishing, marine ecology and the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Outdoor exhibits include a historic homestead cabin and a botanical garden displaying “Facing the Elements” Art Exhibit.
