Nikiski
Located approximately sixteen miles north of the city of Kenai, Nikiski is where numerous oil companies explore and produce crude oil and natural gas from both on shore production facilities and offshore production platforms.
The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area offers a variety of recreational opportunities including swimming, hiking and camping. Facilities include an indoor swimming pool with waterside, racquetball courts, a community center, ice rink, playgrounds, trails, skate park and multi-use fields. Don’t forget to explore the 3,460 acre Captain Cook Sate Recreation Area for some great picnicking, camping and fishing opportunities and an incredible view of the Cook Inlet.
