Kenai Wildlife Speakers Series: Fly-tying for the Kenai River | Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council

Hosted by: Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center and Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) presents the Fishing and Fly Tying workshop. This workshop is free and open to the public and will be held at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center on March 26 from 4:30-5:30 pm.

A game of Match the Hatch (simple observations of the insects crawling on rocks or flying off the water) along the riverbank can lead to the best fishing experiences in early spring. Learn how to tie one or two locally successful fishing fly patterns during this hands-on workshop. Ranger Matt will share some stories from the river while helping participants gain new skills. All supplies provided but space is limited to 15 tying vices so pre-registration is requested. The ambassador animal for this month is river fish, specifically trout and salmon.
